In a recent report by Goldman Sachs, it was reported that, “The rapid adoption of LEDs in lighting marks one of the fastest technology shifts in human history”. This is due in part to “sharp cost reductions and performance improvements, relatively short replacement cycles for incumbent technologies, and aggressive policy support (including bans on incandescent technology in major markets such as the US, the EU and China)” as detailed in the recent report “The Low Carbon Economy” by Goldman Sachs.
LEDs reduce the amount of energy used, thereby reducing the amount of carbon emissions produced by the burning of fossil fuels.
